Sekhmet (also Warrior Goddess, The One Who Is Powerful, The Avenger of Wrongs) was the Goddess of divine retribution, vengeance, conquest, and war. Her name is derived from the Egyptian word Sekhem meaning “power” or “might.” Her name is often translated as the “Powerful One” or “She who is Powerful.” Sekhmet is depicted as a lion-headed woman, sometimes with the addition of a sun disc on her head, whose breath created the desert. She was the protector, who led the pharaohs in warfare. Approach this goddess with respect and caution.
